Meet Don Von Lintel
Sparta Senior Self Defense is led by Don Von Lintel, a 28-year veteran police officer with extensive specialized training. He is dedicated to empowering older adults across the Colorado Front Range with practical, real-world personal safety skills.
My mission is simple: to help you feel secure, confident, and capable in your daily life. I understand that traditional martial arts classes can be intimidating and physically demanding. That's why I focus on situational awareness, verbal de-escalation, and simple leverage-based techniques that don't require extreme flexibility or strength.
Don served for 28 years as a police officer, including 7 years as a Police Sergeant, 4 years as an Investigator, and 4 years as a Special Enforcement Officer. This deep law enforcement background gives him unparalleled insight into real-world threat assessment and criminal psychology.
As a defensive tactics trainer for 25 years, Don is an expert at breaking down complex self-defense strategies into easy-to-learn movements. He is a certified Pressure Point Control Tactics (PPCT) instructor and trained in Pat Miletich Law Enforcement Grappling.
Physical self-defense should always be a last resort. Don is an FBI Academy trained negotiator and a former Peer Support Officer. His classes heavily emphasize verbal de-escalation, conflict resolution, and situational awareness to prevent altercations before they happen.
In addition to his law enforcement training, Don boxed for 15 years, studied Kenpo Karate for 12 years, and trained in Krav Maga. He understands the mechanics of striking, leverage, and defense inside and out.
